Tagsys Releases RFID Base Platform Software

RFID system supplier Tagsys has announced the launch of e-connectware, an RFID basic management software platform that enables end-users to centrally manage high-frequency/UHF UHF reader devices.

Tagsys has released the first product of this platform, Essentials, to support the management and monitoring of local Tagsys high-frequency and HF/UHF dual-frequency readers. Later products, called Enterprise and Global, will be released in June and the end of the year respectively.

Tagsys CEO Elie Simon said that, unlike the traditional client-server model, Enterprise will support end-user remote monitoring of Tagsys readers through an open distributed network. The distributed network means that the computing process will be shared by each component of the entire network, instead of being processed by the server in the client-server model. In a distributed model, software infrastructure components can be embedded in inexpensive smart devices (gateways or smart readers) that can improve system processing capabilities at a lower cost than servers.

Simon added that with e-connectware's distributed network architecture, users can manage up to 10,000 nodes or readers. Global version users can also monitor, manage, and overhaul other manufacturers' readers. Users can use the e-connectware network interface to upgrade the system to support the products of different reader manufacturers.

"In order to manage a continuous RFID system, we need to develop a framework that supports multiple frequencies," Simon said. "In hospitals, for example, it is possible to use different RFID systems for item tracking, patient and employee tracking, and laundry. Clothes tracking.” Item tracking uses UHF active tags, patient and employee tracking may use high frequency or UHF, while laundry uses ordinary high frequencies.

Tagsys produces HF tags and readers and released its AK series EPC Gen2 UHF tags last year. It also provides UHF readers embedded in its dual-band system and is expected to provide a complete range of UHF readers in the future. Tagsys designs products for specific industry solutions, including durable labels embedded in clothing products, and readers for laundry systems. Tagsys also develops HF tag and reader systems for item-level drugs. However, its pharmaceutical customers also use UHF tags on the packaging boxes and trays for location tracking, so Tagsys needs an RFID management system that supports multiple frequencies and multiple protocols.

Simon said that many customers of Tagsys hardware products are testing the Essentials products of the e-connectware platform, including the French Bibliothèque du Sénat, which uses Essentials to manage and control the network of Tagsys readers and tracks them through Tagsys' HF tags. Books and other library materials.

The price of e-connectware has not yet been announced, but the software will be licensed in the form of a license according to the number of customer sites, including time-limited reader support for each application.
