Milliken launches PE film nucleating agent

Milliken Chemical, Spartanburg, South Carolina, USA, introduced PE blown film high performance nucleating agent Hyperform HPN-20E to further expand its nucleating agent and clearing agent business. PE blown film includes shrink film, stretch film, greenhouse film and Stretch film.

Hyperform HPN-20E can reduce the haze of LLDPE film by 40% while increasing the gloss by 100%. Therefore, it is a simpler and more effective method to improve the transparency of LLDPE film by blending LLDPE with LDPE. The additive also significantly improves the barrier properties of the film to moisture, and provides a possible new packaging material for extending the shelf life of the product.

Baptfeld Gloucester, Mass., recently conducted trial production on a PE blow molding scale demonstrating that LLDPE film with Hyperforn HPN-20E has higher longitudinal tear strength than conventional LDPE/LLDPE blend films by more than 30%, a 20% higher stiffness, and drop hammer impact The strength is basically the same. In addition, the nucleating agent accelerates the crystallization rate of the resin, increases the speed of the extrusion line, and helps to reduce surface defects such as stripe lines and improves the film quality.
