In the printing process of color newspapers, there are many factors that affect the quality of color newspapers, mainly including the color and gradation of pictures, ink color, layout, registration, water and ink balance, and equipment status. In actual production, we mainly control from the following 5 aspects.
The restoration of the color and level of the picture is mainly related to the two processes of scanning and printing. When scanning, first classify the original documents (divided into fax pictures, photos, and secondary original documents). Scan the fax picture and the original photo with the proper number of lines after aligning the scanner lens, and pay attention to 4 points when processing the scanned picture: ①ensure that the highlight part of the picture is continuous; ② ensure the dark The levels of the tone parts are not combined; ③ As far as possible, ensure that the middle tone is rich in level and moderate in brightness; For the secondary manuscript, in order to prevent the phenomenon of "moire" in the printing process, the scanner lens should be properly blurred before scanning or after scanning, the image of the scanned secondary manuscript should be properly decontaminated to increase Scanning accuracy or angle rotation is less than 15 °, focus adjustment on a certain point. In these processes, the scanners adjust the R, G, and B parameters of each picture based on their own experience and the conditions of the newspaper ’s printing equipment to determine their processing effects.
For the production of newspaper eyebrows, take "Xinhua Daily" as an example. "Xinhua Daily" has a total of 16 editions of color newspapers A, B, C, and D every day, and there is a standard color bar with four colors superimposed under each layout. The production of color bars includes two aspects: â‘ 100% dots mainly test the hue and density; â‘¡ 30%, 50%, 70% dots mainly measure the increase rate of printing dots. We make this standard color bar with the following three functions.
1. In theory, as long as the printing ink developer adjusts the color bar of the day to close to the standard color bar, the amount of ink in each color of the photo on the color bar is basically in place.
2. When adjusting the exposure time and developer concentration, the printing personnel can determine the exposure time and developer concentration according to the fact that the dots of 3% to 4% of the highlights in the color bar are aligned.
3. Scanners can compare the difference between the effect of the picture above the color bar and the original according to the sample report of the day when the color bar is adjusted to the standard color, and reflect on the R, G of the picture. 2. Whether there is any need for further improvement in the B parameter, which can provide empirical data for scanning similar pictures in the future.
