Successfully developed 100femto laser measuring machine in Japan

The Japan Industry Research Institute of the Matsubara has recently developed a 100femto (femto=10-15) second-interval laser to measure the distance of the object to be inspected, which ensures that the error is only 2μm when measuring the length from 10m to 1km. In the past when measuring long distances, it was difficult to increase the resolution of the measurement, generally resulting in a millimeter error. The new measuring machine uses two colors for comparison. Therefore, it is almost free from the effects of temperature and pressure, and compensation is also very convenient. This technology can be used in the visual department of an industrial robot to perform gold machining on the curved surface of a large parabolic antenna or as a benchmark for a certified distance meter.
