Coal-made dimethyl ether industrial production breakthrough

A few days ago, it was learned from the test site that the industrial trial of one-step synthesis of dimethyl ether in a slurry bed was successful in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province.
Dimethyl ether has a wide range of sources of raw materials. China's energy structure is based on coal, and the use of coal to produce dimethyl ether is undoubtedly the most important route for coal liquefaction. Dimethyl ether can replace liquefied petroleum gas for domestic fuel and gas turbine fuel. The most important thing is that it can be used as a substitute for diesel fuel. Tests have shown that dimethyl ether, as a vehicle fuel, is cleaner than natural gas and liquefied gas.
Under the cooperation of the research group headed by Prof. Xie Kechang of the Institute of Taiyuan University of Technology, Sinopec Shengli Petroleum Management Bureau, Shandong Runtian Chemical Co., Ltd., China Advanced Technology Center, and Shanxi Xinyu Clean Energy Technology Development Center, after more than six months of hard work, A 1,000-ton/year dimethyl ether synthesis unit for vehicles has been built. The process has been opened up and the test data collected from various processes and equipment are currently being analyzed. This is a major step forward in the field of one-step synthesis of dimethyl ether in China. It marks a historic breakthrough in the industrial production of coal-made dimethyl ether.
