Stanford University invents human-like brain chips at 9000 times faster than ordinary computers

Researchers at Stanford University in the United States have developed a circuit board based on human brain structure that is 9000 times faster than ordinary computers. The power required for operation is similar to a tablet computer. This technology will greatly enhance the development of the robotics industry, and it will also help people better understand the brain.

According to information released by the university on Monday, the circuit board is called Neurogrid and consists of 16 chips, each with 65,536 neurons. The 16 chips can simulate one million brain neurons and billions of synaptic connections. Researchers are developing programming software that enables people without a neuroscience background to control this humanoid robot.

The researchers said that the price of a Neurogrid is $40,000. However, through large-scale production, the cost can be reduced 100 times, that is, 400 US dollars.

The use of this technology can not only help people better understand the mysteries of the brain, but also can design prosthetic limbs that are comparable to humans for patients without worrying about power problems. The researchers explained that the human brain has 80,000 times more neurons than Neurogrid, and that the required kinetic energy is three times that of Neurogrid.
