Thailand also has a merger trend, and the Siam branch company's carton plant in Thailand has seven factories after the merger. The foreign challenge is that Smurfit Stone in the southern part of Thailand has built a 100% wholly foreign-owned factory.
In order to adapt to the new situation after China's accession to the WTO, China's corrugated paper box production will have rapid growth in the next few years.
In March 2002, Dongguan Jiulong Group put into operation a production line with an annual production capacity of 400,000 tons of cardboard. Prior to this, in mid-1998, the company's first production line with an annual production capacity of 250,000 tons of cardboard began operations, and in June 2000 another production line was added. Then, another annual production capacity of 400,000 tons of cardboard was also put into production by the Kowloon Group. The annual production capacity of the four production lines reached 1.5 million tons.
Similarly, in Lee & Man in Dongguan, a paperboard production line with an annual production capacity of 250,000 to 400,000 tons was installed in November 2002, plus another 3 production lines (one 550 tons of corrugated medium paper per day, one Nissan produces 160 tons of corrugated medium paper, a lining paper of 190 tons per day. The plant has an annual production capacity of 600,000 tons of carton material.
In addition, Singapore Central Packaging Co., Ltd. already has nine factories in operation in China, and its production capacity continues to grow.
