A Comparative Study of Author Coupling Analysis and Author Keyword Coupling Analysis of Scientometrics

Song Yanhui Wu Yishan This article uses 2,045 papers published by Scienometrics from 1991 to 2010 as a data sample. The knowledge structure and evolution of scientometrics in these 20 years are studied in two time periods, and the author coupling analysis method (ABCA) is studied. The Co-Analysis of Authors (AKCA) reveals similarities and differences in the knowledge structure of subject areas. The study found that the knowledge structure of scientometrics between 2001 and 2010 was more clear than that between 1991 and 2000, and the research topics were more intimate and the interaction was obviously stronger. Author ranking correlation analysis, research topic detection, cosine similarity calculation, research theme change, etc. show that AKCA and ABCA are highly correlated; model fitting by factor analysis, research topic detection and transition analysis, and In contrast, ABCA can explore more research topics than AKCA, and AKCA can display more signals than ABCA to reflect the technological breakthroughs of the discipline and the progress of research frontiers. Therefore, ABCA and AKCA are not mutually replaceable, and the combination of the two is an ideal research method for exploring the subject knowledge structure and its development.
