CTP is no longer an unfamiliar concept for everyone; however, there is still a lot of controversy in understanding the connotation of CTP. With these questions, the author consulted experienced international experts who have worked in the prepress industry for 30 years, and finally solved many doubts. In particular, I summarized the ten major misunderstandings and shared them with you.
First, the blind worship of the other party's positive light spot.
Only in the screening mode of the 10 micron FM network, a dot is a laser spot. At present, the main screening method is still an amplitude modulation network. Lawson Luscher's technical white paper on square light spot research, the conclusion is that including GATF quality testing shows that it is a pure marketing strategy.
Second, driven by the voice coil motor, automatic dynamic focusing.
First, let us scientifically calculate the possibility:
The drum is 1,000 revolutions per minute and the circumference of the drum is 1 meter.
The length of each minute is 1000 meters, and 16.7 meters per second,
1 meter = 1,000,000 micrometers, which means 16,700,000 micrometers per second,
The size of each laser spot is 10 microns;
In other words, the time that each laser spot stays on the printing plate is: 10/16700000 = 0.0000006 seconds
Is it possible to complete the working process of accelerating, decelerating, stopping, turning on / off the laser in such a short time?
Moreover, both UV-CTP and thermal CTP use a positive plate, which means that the laser is exposed in the non-graphical part, which will hardly affect the image quality. The size of "fine dust on the surface of the drum" is much smaller than the sum of the error of the circumference of the drum surface and the error of the thickness of the plate, so the foreign objects that can cause the deformation of the plate should be large enough. Foreign objects of this size can enter the CTP only if the CTP has the drum at the bottom, the plate-in opening facing up, and the plate-in vertical. A CTP usually has 32 or 48 laser beams. In theory, 32 or 48 voice coil motors are required to drive. In fact, all laser speeds pass through a lens, and there is only one voice coil motor.
In fact, the use of the voice coil motor is to match the larger assembly error of the ball screw and ball guide and the larger processing error of the drum. If it is a flat-type version, a V-shaped guide rail, and a high-precision drum, there is no need for a voice coil motor.
Third, fast optical path balance and automatic optical path switching
In fact, the detection and adjustment of laser power before plate making is the normal function of CTP. The switching and shielding of the optical path is a common technology using a single laser CTP.
Take the 8-channel laser module as an example:
If the second laser is faulty, the 0-2 laser can be shielded in the software, and the 3-8 lasers work normally (5 channels in total) without stopping.
If the 7th laser is faulty, you can manually exchange the 7th channel with the 0th channel, then shield the 0th laser, and the 1st-7th lasers work normally (a total of 7 channels).
The user of a certain brand equipment proves that the so-called automatic switching of optical paths is a lie.
Fourth, only focus on the constant temperature control of the laser box, and ignore the overall temperature control of the equipment.
We all know that the laser is the most important part of CTP, so most CTP suppliers attach great importance to the constant temperature control of the laser box, but we still see that some CTP equipment must open the cover or even open the skylight on the side to ensure the normal operation of the equipment. This is the reason why the overall temperature control of the equipment is not done well. It is understood that Corey's overall temperature control technology is currently the most advanced and perfect. Corey not only pays attention to the temperature control of the laser box itself, but also pays more attention to the scientific external heat exchange technology. Fifth, the graphic accurate size calibration, registration accuracy of 5 microns
Rectangular correction for multi-laser scanning is an open algorithm, and all outer drum CTP products prove this. Kodak CTP using the same "electronic edge-finding technology" with a set precision of 25 microns, we are skeptical of the data of a brand of "5 microns".
Sixth, using the world's top brand laser
At present, the best UV laser in the world is the product of Nichia in Japan. There is only one packaging factory certified in China, and the company has an exclusive agreement with Corey. So if CTP manufacturers other than Corey claim to "use the world's top brand lasers", customers will have to think twice. It is understood that some manufacturers achieve the purpose of increasing the laser power by increasing the current, which will seriously affect the laser life.
Seventh, color management ≠pulling a calibration curve
Now people pay more attention to the automatic digital connection between the CTP plate making process and the printing process, and color management has been paid more and more attention. There are many printers who believe that color management is a curve, and indeed some suppliers do. However, this can only temporarily improve the printing effect, cannot maintain long-term stability, and cannot reach international standards. To do a good job in color management, we must first have a high-performance CTP plate-making equipment to ensure that the dot reproduction rate is 1-99%, and it is stable for a long time; secondly, we must have professional color management technicians to track and regularly optimize the equipment curve. In addition, Equipped with professional color monitoring instruments and ink preset software to do standardized control. Of course, there are many details that need attention, so I won't go into details here.
Eighth, electronic edge search version positioning technology
In fact, electronic patrol is not as accurate as the three-point positioning side pull gauge technology. Because the electronic edge-finding is affected by the flatness of the edge of the plate, the plate is located at different positions of the drum after the plate is entered. The two axes of the drum are unbalanced, the stability is poor, the vibration is large, and the plate-making effect is affected. The side pull gauge technology is not affected by the plate material. The plate material is located in the center of the drum after the plate is entered. The two axes of the drum are under balanced force, with good stability, low vibration, and long service life of the drum.
Ninth, separate version tail clip
Separate plate tail clips, such as adsorption or magnet type plate tail clips, balance the weight of the plate material and the plate tail clips by increasing the balance weight, it is difficult to achieve accurate dynamic balance, high-speed movement has a huge risk, once the flying version appears, it will Serious damage to the machine. In this respect, the integrated version of the tail drum of the drum is superior, and the dual dynamic balancing system uses a smaller balance block to balance the plate material more accurately.
