Peking University Mountain Eagle Mountaineering Team Information

China News Service, Beijing, August 14, 2002: Five students of the Beijing University climbing team who climbed Xixibangmaxixi Peak in Tibet suffered an avalanche on the way to the summit. Two people were killed and three were missing. The China News Network special issue sent a background image of the mountaineering team of Beijing Eagle Mountain Eagles.

Peking University Shan Yingshe was established on April 1, 1989, and is the first student club in China to carry out climbing and rock climbing activities. The spirit of the association is "Keeping the eagle's heart at a high level, taking the eagle's ambition and Lingyun's, the eagle's nature is involved in the danger, and the eagle's god is in the mountains."

Since the foundation of the association, various activities, including hiking, hiking, rock climbing, and cave exploration, have been carried out with the aim of moving toward nature, conquering oneself, carrying forward young people's fearlessness, courage, and excellence. Mountain climbing activities combined with alpine adventures and scientific investigations, strive to discover the vast mountain resources of the motherland. In the summer vacation, a social practice study group was organized to go deeper into the remote areas of the motherland to understand the national conditions and serve the local people. Various activities have cultivated a large number of young mountaineering enthusiasts and national athletes, made their own contribution to China's folk mountaineering and mountain science examinations, and produced a wide range of social influence.

As the core organization of the Mountain Eagles, the climbing team of Peking University consists of actively motivated and well-qualified member policies, including undergraduates, graduate students, doctoral students and young teachers. On August 23, 1990, the Peking University Mountaineering Team climbed the Yuzhu Peak (6,178m) in the East Kunlun Mountains and "opened a new era for the mass mountaineering campaign in China." In the past 12 years, the Peking University Mountaineering Team has overcome all kinds of difficulties. While continuously improving and perfecting itself, it has also sought the support of all sectors of society to show the students the spirit of the Peking University. In the past 12 years, there have been more than 10 peaks in Nyainqentanglha, Ladandong, Maqinggangri, and Cho Oyu.

The Beijing University Mountaineering Team is a well-trained, well-organized, and disciplined team. There are currently 11 national level climbers. Statistics show that since the 1990s, more than 70 people have climbed snow-capped mountains, 30 have had more than two high-level experiences, and 21 have reached a height of more than 7,000 meters.
