And the risk of death from certain cancers, increasing the chance of longevity.
US researchers analyzed data on 388,000 people and found that dietary fiber intake is inversely proportional to infectious disease and respiratory disease mortality. People who consumed 25-30 grams of fiber per day had a 22% reduction in overall mortality compared with those with low intake. By sex, men and women who consumed more fiber had a 23% and 19% reduction in death rates, respectively.
The study also looked at the type of fiber intake and found that the most beneficial for men and women was whole-wheat fiber and legume fiber, but beans benefited more than men. It is also good to eat vegetables and fruits, but it is not obvious in extending life.
Therefore, the American Heart Association recommends that each person consume 25 grams of dietary fiber per day. In particular, you should eat more cereals, such as wheat, barley, black beans and so on.
